The Americano is a Cuban-American restaurant that recently opened in Mount Pleasant. Walk in the doors and you are immediately transplanted to a world of art-deco Miami, complete with ceramic parrots and vintage garden flamingos. Pink napkins, spectacular custom painted walls by artist Jamie Boling, palm frond wall paper and shuffle board complete this painstakingly planned and detailed restaurant. It was a labor of love, and, in my humble opinion- it's perfection. Mount Pleasant needed this. Heck, Charleston needed this. The Americano adds such a wonderful rabbit hole in this bustling city. And I haven't event mentioned the food or cocktail menu. Rum? Yes, please. Their progressive cocktail program (via Brent Sweatman- the genius behind The Rarebit's cocktails including their Moscow Mule) has me downing their meticulous concoctions with a slurpy straw...

The menu is pretty spectacular as well, blending traditional Cuban dishes like Ropa Vieja and Puerco Asado with tacos, guacamole, and burgers for the more American palate.

If you have been living under a rock and have not been to The Americano, do yourself a favor and go. Plan on relaxing for a while. Enjoy the phenomenal food and definitely try the Mexican Mule and the Dark and Stormy.
