to my sonI wrote this on Facebook and have gotten such an overwhelming response that I wanted to blog it as well. I want to remind myself of this every day.
This is to my son: "Oh Liam I love you so much. I love you even when I have to wipe your snot on my own sleeve or when you share my water and leave me tiny pieces of floating crackers, I love you when, out of the blue, you tell me I'm so pretty and that you love me, I love you when you pick a neighbor's flower and give it to me, and especially when you ask me to play a game with you or to read a book. I will always play, I will get dirty with you, I will run through puddles with you, and I will kiss your ouchies. I will study your face and movements every day because you are growing and changing so quickly. I will be conscious of how it feels to hold your little hand and what your body feels like when we hug. I could go on and on. I love you little boy... And I won't be so quick to pick up your toys bc someday they won't be there on the floor, and I'll leave some finger prints on the windows because they make me smile. I'll laugh to myself when you mispronounce things and make your own special words, I'll frame way too many works of art and wallpaper the house in your creations, I'll breathe in your smell whether it's after a bath or a day playing in the mud. I'll share too many pictures of you on Facebook:) You are amazing. Ok, I'll stop now that I'm teary!"
